چکیده

Three-Phase Fluidized Beds have found an important place in processing technology as Reactors. Gas-Liquid-Solid fluidization is considered in the present paper as operating bed of fluidized solid particles simultaneously with co-current upward flow of a continuous liquid phase and a gaseous phase dispersed in the form of bubbles. In the present study, the experimental work of the author on heat transfer from the Wall-to-Bed ThreePhase Fluidization is described. The mechanistic models based on Double Thermal Resistance, Surface Renewal and Capillary Tube models are discussed and compared with the author data. After discussing the possible reasons for the discrepancy, a generalized correlation for the wall-to-bed heat transfer coefficient is developed. It was noted that the limitations of Semi-theoretical models and important conclusions are presented. A good understanding of heat transfer mechanism should further aid the design and optimization process.

Heat Transfer of Liquid/ Solid Fluidized Beds for Newtonian and Non-Newtonian Fluids

The excellent performance of fluidized bed heat exchangers is due to the interaction between particles and heat transfer surface and to the mixing effects in the viscous sublayer. In this paper, the results of experimental investigations on heat transfer for a wide range of Newtonian and non-Newtonian (shear-thinning power law) fluids are presented. New design equations have been developed ...

Bed Voidage and Heat Transfer in Non-Newtonian Liquid-Solid Fluidized Bed

The presence of particles in liquid-solid fluidized beds enhances the bed heat transfer, because the movement of the particles leads to an increased turbulence in the system. Moreover, the violent movement of the particles has a positive effect on fouling of the heat transfer surface. The aim of this investigation was to perform systematic measurements of bed voidage and heat transfer coeff...

Evaluation of Eulerian Two-Fluid Numerical Method for the Simulation of Heat Transfer in Fluidized Beds

Accurate modeling of fluidization and heat transfer phenomena in gas-solid fluidized beds is not solely dependent  on the particular selected numerical model and involved algorithms. In fact, choosing the right model for each specific operating condition, the correct implementation of each model, and the right choice of parameters and boundary conditions, determine the accuracy of the results i...
